Chief Executives in the Russian Federation: the Social and Demographic Analysis (2015)
Abstract
The article analyzes the social and demographic features of the heads of executive authorities of the Russian Federation. The article focuses on social and demographic indicators of the governors and presidents of republics in Russia after the 2012–2014 election campaigns. After examining biographical sources the author makes an attempt to point out quantitative demographic indicators characterizing the heads of executive power in the RF constituent territories. The article reveals the dynamics of the governors’ corps of the Russian Federation, the peculiarities of its renewal. It was shown that in recent years the vast majority of the heads of executive bodies in the Russian Federation have got into office for the first time. The author considers such issues as gender and age structure, the level and quality of education, the acquired academic degrees and titles, party affiliation, and scope of activity of executive power heads in the Russian Federation members both during their course of life and at the time of taking office. It is shown that among the governors representatives with engineering degrees prevail, but their professional actualization vary significantly. Chief executives in the Russian Federation are mostly men of mature age. As a result, the author outlined a certain social and professional image of a governor in the Russian federation.
