Abstract
The paper presents for the first time the indicators of reproduction population in the Novonikolayevsk and Altai provinces, to characterize the development of demographic transition in 1920-1927. It was concluded that demographic crisis wasn’t stopped, it was temporary interrupted. The birth rates in the province were ultra-high, before 1926 the mortality rates were also higher than the “norm”, the tendency to decrease mortality was outlined only by 1927. The causes of changes in the population of provinces were determined; the highest population growth occurred in 1926, the minimum level was observed in 1920-1922.
Marriage rates in the period from 1920-1924 were consistently high; the average was above 10%. Since 1925 the intensity of marriage decreased, but the average coefficient since 1925-1927 remained above the average ratio of 8,7%, marriage was high, and as a result, we could see an increase in population growth since 1923.
The chronological frameworks cover 1920-1927. The choice of the lower limit is explained by the possibility of comparing the most crisis epidemic coefficients of 1920-1922 with "unstable" post-war ones. The upper limit of 1927 is determined by a significant decrease in the death rate in both provinces.
The work sets the following tasks: on the basis ofarchival documents to determine changes in the number and mode of reproduction of the population of the province and identify the differences in the reproduction of the population Novonikolayevsk and Altai provinces. The author uses the method of calculating the total reproduction rates of the population, and the tabular method during the whole work.
