Geoinformation Technologies in the Research of the Demographic Situation in the Kyrgyz Republic (1989-2015)
Abstract
The research of socio-demographic processes (in particular, of marriages and divorces) in the territory of Kyrgyzstan in 1989-2015 allows you to trace the impact on these processes of political and migration factors. The social status in Kyrgyz society since antiquity was largely determined by the marital position. The traditional way of life of the Kyrgyz people suggested the unacceptability of a divorce. More than half a century of the Soviet period of history left a certain imprint on the development of the foundations of Kyrgyz society. Since the 1990s cardinal changes in the political and social spheres had an even more significant impact on socio-demographic processes. The article analyzes the trends and prerequisites for changes in the number of marriages and divorces in Kyrgyzstan in the post-Soviet period, in particular, maps have been created illustrating these processes. Geo-information technologies were used by us as a tool for spatial analysis and visualization of the results, which allows us to effectively track the spatial and temporal variability of socio-demographic processes in Kyrgyzstan.
