Some Aspects of the Formation of the Bashkir Diaspora of Kyrgyzstan in the Pre-revolutionary Period
Abstract
The article is devoted to the main trends in the development of the Bashkir ethnic group that lived on the territory of modern Kyrgyzstan in the pre-October period. The formation of the diaspora was influenced by a variety of factors: religious, cultural and linguistic community with the local population, the intensity of trade relations, and the peculiarities of the migration policy of tsarist Russia. The paper provides information about the reasons for the arrival of the Bashkirs, the places of settlement and the number, and their economic activities. At the same time, the presence of some assimilation processes was revealed. Valuable sources were the results of the 1897 census, archival documents, memoirs of eyewitnesses of those events, as well as periodical materials. As concrete examples, the progressive role and wide influence of the Bashkir Enlighteners-Jadid on the educational system in the region is noted. They built mosques, mektebe schools and madrasahs with their own funds, the main contingent of which were children of nomad Kyrgyz. The author makes the assumption that all of these relations began to take shape even before the region joined the Russian Empire. However, science does not have data on the population at that time.
