Ceramic Сomplex of the Firsovo XVIII Settlement (Technical and Technological Aspects)
Abstract
The article considers ceramic complex settlement Firsovo X VIII. It is established that the ceramics corresponds to the traditions of Irmen and Korchazhkino cultures of Western Siberia. To carry out technical and technological analysis of the settlement’s pottery selection was made of twenty-three samples (corolla fragments) from different vessels examined with the binocular microscope MBS-10. The main objective of the work was to identify the specificity of the cultural traditions of the two stages of the production process. The study was made of the feedstock selection and preparation skills of paste compositions relating to the preparatory stages of ceramics manufacture. Two traditions were distinguished in the use of gravel, related to its dimension and concentration. The identified differences in manufacturing technology of the pottery indicate that the formation of skill occurred under conditions where the two traditions formed independently. The situation recorded on the site reflects the gradual merging of the two traditions of technology which is confirmed by the presence of a mixed group of ornamentation. The materials of the Firsovo XVIII settlements show the evolution of the original interaction between Irmen and Korchazhkino cultures on the Upper Ob Region. DOI 10.14258/izvasu(2016)4-44Downloads
