The government and public organizations aspired to use the achievements of science and technology to increase the military potential of the country, to improve the food supply of the army and civil population. The Tomsk Province was a the leader in technical innovations in West Siberia during the war. The inventors of the region paid special attention to equipment of the Russian army with modern arms and machinery. The research considers medical and sanitary problems of the army in the field. The belt- stretcher invented by the citizen of Tomsk for carrying the wounded was used in the front. The scientific thought tried to solve the problems of breaking of the stable economic ties and deficit of many goods and food-stuff in the region at that time. The activity of the scientists was especially successful in such branches of industry as leather-processing and food industry. Military-industrial committees created in summer 1915 added certain impulse to scientific technical thought. So the scientific technical potential of West Siberia within the limits of its possibilities solved the problems of supplying to front and rear during World War I.
