The Theory and Practice of Subject Creativity in the USSR of the 1930–1950s
Abstract
The article features the development of decorative and applied creativity of the USSR in the 1930- 1950s. Special attention is paid to modern interdisciplinary studies of subject creativity by O. Baldina, V. Glazychev. The emphasis is made on the value and a place of decorative and applied art in the Soviet art culture in the 1930-1950s. The research of the first all- Union congress of the Soviet artists of 1957 defined the forms and practices of subject creativity: factory art industry, art crafts, folk art, amateur art creativity and industrial design. The author considers the most characteristic solutions of artistry problems in the Soviet decorative and applied art of the 1950s, including the art tasks in the mass production and crafts; analyses and reveals artistic and imaginative specifics of objects for decorative purpose and their role in shaping the urban interior.
