Tuvinians’ Children’s Play Culture
Abstract
This article is dedicated to the children’s play culture of the Tuvanians. The author reveals the features of this genre, its meaning and function in the traditional culture of the Tuvinians. This genre of folk art among the Tuvin population was determined by the child’s age, his needs, mental and physical abilities. The games were of great importance as performing important functions of the upbringing and development of children, as they are closely linked to such cultural aspects as the music, art text, and game: labor and economic activity. Games are an entertaining way for the child to study the natural environment and to socialize in the community. Besides literary sources, the author uses their own field materials collected in the regions of the Tuva Republic. Analysing the data, the author used the age periods that existed in the traditional culture of the tuvinians: lullabies (kavaylyg uezi) infancy (uezi bowls), and childhood (bichii uezi).
