Non-Economic Motivation of the Collective Peasantry during the Great Patriotic War (on the Materials of the Altai Region)
Abstract
This article is devoted to the role of the different methods of non-economic motivation of the collective peasants of the Altai region in the Great Patriotic War. At present, this question remains controversial as different groups of historians recognize the fundamental motivation in a different way. On the materials of the Altai region the author of this article attempts to identify the structure of non-economic motivation and the degree of influence of different methods to motivate collective peasants to work. The main focus is made on role of incentives and coercive measures to motivate collective peasants to work. In particular, the author examines the role of the resolution “ On the Increase of Mandatory Minimum of Workdays for Peasants". Finally, the author comes to the conclusion that the forced motivation had a very limited influence on the labor motivation of collective peasants of the Altai region. In the first place during the war came moral motivation, based on the patriotic mood of the peasantry.
