Impact of International Law Development of Environmental Education in General Education Institutions of the Russian Federation
Abstract
The issues of environmental safety are the main ones for the development of modern states. However, without the formation of environmental culture, environmental awareness, humanity will constantly fight the consequences of the barbaric attitude to nature. This article is the first attempt to analyze the compliance of the level of environmental education in the Russian Federation with the requirements of international agreements in the field of environmental relations.
The publication states that the current federal state educational standards of primary general education, basic general education and secondary general education fully comply with the requirements of international treaties on the implementation of measures aimed at the development of environmental education and respect for the environment. In our opinion, the Russian Federation has all the necessary legal conditions for the formation of a new environmental culture in our country.
The article also considers the problem of correlation between the concepts of "environmental education" and" education for sustainable development". At the same time, it is noted that the concept of "education for sustainable development" is broader and more reflects the needs of the modern world for the active involvement in the solution of problems of environmental safety in conjunction with the solution of economic, social and other problems that are the root causes of violations of the ecological balance.
