The Soviet Village in 20-30s of the 20th Century in the Works of S.S. Maslov
Abstract
The article deals with the views of S.S. Maslov, a volunteer of cooperation activity, a politician, a researcher and an essay writer, about the village before the establishing of kolkhoz; peasantry - the most important social group, according to S.S. Maslov and about the influence of collectivization on the development of the Soviet village and changes in peasants’ attitude to kolkhoz. The article provides the biography of S.S. Maslov, showing his activity as a cooperator and a member of the socialist revolutionary party and his activity in the forced emigration. The article provides Maslov’s opinion about new economic policy and its beneficial effects toward the reconstruction of the country’s economy. The article assesses the works of S.S. Maslov, a contemporary of the given event, which allows seeing the changes in the agrarian sector and in peoples’ life, however, it states the necessity to take a critical look at his research due to the insufficient use of factual data and S.S. Maslov’s subjective attitude towards the Soviet policy in agriculture.
