Abstract

The 1930s were marked by the rapid development of Soviet medical science and public health. In historiography, this period has already become the subject of multifaceted research; however, the issue of medical care for Party officials at the regional level has received insufficient attention. This article presents, for the first time from a historical perspective, an analysis of the establishment and development of regional Party medicine in Nizhny Novgorod Region. The purpose of the study is to reconstruct the phenomenon of Party medical provision. The research is grounded in the principles of historicism, scholarly objectivity, and determinism, and employs analytical, synthetic, comparative-historical, and chronological methods. The source base of the article draws upon archival materials from Nizhny Novgorod and Udmurtia. As a result of the study, the author identifies the main reasons for the creation of a special, closed system of Party medical care, as well as the particular features of its development and the consequences of such isolation. The author also proposes an original periodization of the development of regional Party medicine during the 1930s.
