Abstract
The proposed article attempts to analyze the main elements of the USSR's strategy to spread the Russian language in the territory of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It is revealed that due to the USSR assistance in the SRV the number of school graduates who spoke Russian at a level sufficient for future professional activities related to the implementation of the plans of the Soviet-Vietnamese economic cooperation increased. The complex of measures taken by the Soviet side to increase the contingent of Vietnamese citizens who had access to the study of the Russian language is considered. The characteristic of measures connected with popularization of the Russian language among the population of Vietnam is given. As a result of the study of previously unpublished archival materials, the author concludes that the example of the SRV traces the purposeful, complex nature of the USSR strategy for the dissemination of the Russian language in the countries of the socialist camp. The results of the implementation of the Soviet strategy in the territory of the SRV are considered to be the emergence of prospects for alleviating the problem of the language barrier between Soviet and Vietnamese specialists, increasing the efficiency of scientific information exchange, creating additional opportunities to promote the socialist path of development among the Vietnamese population and expanding cultural ties between the peoples of the two countries.
