Baking Industry in the Altai Territory (1941-1945): Problems of Production and Contribution to Victory

Abstract
The article examines the production problems of the Altai Territory Trust "Rosglavkhleb" during the Great Patriotic War, analyzes the contribution to the Victory. The main source was the materials deposited in the State Archive of the Altai Territory, which were introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. The publication provides a brief overview of the state of the bakery industry in the pre-war years. The resource base of the trust was assessed before the outbreak of the war. It is claimed that before the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, the industrial fund of the trust required modernization. It is noted that during the war period, the trust organized a breadcrumb production in a short time and began to produce thousands of tons of breadcrumbs for the needs of the army. It is stated that the decisions of the territorial party authorities did not always bring the expected results. It is concluded that a breadcrumb base was established in the region, which became a significant contribution to the supply of breadcrumbs to the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War.
