Abstract
The aim of the study is to characterize the dynamics reproduction indicators of the population of Tomsk in 1918-1926. For the first time the paper presents the main indicators of population reproduction, reveals the dynamic trends of the natural movement of citizens. The research objectives are: to calculate demographic indicators, identify the main demographic trends depending on socio-economic conditions, determine the impact of wars and revolutions on the growth and decline of the number of citizens.
The methods of statistical analysis, statistical observation, summary and group statistical materials, absolute and relative statistical values, selection, time-series are used in the article. The chronological framework covers 1918-1926, the choice of the lower limit is explained by the beginning of the Civil War and the change in population dynamics, the choice of the upper limit is determined by the 1926 All-Union Population Census. The author concluded that the demographic crisis began to manifest itself in 1918; it became the demographic catastrophe in 1920-1922. The percentage decline in urban population from 1918-1922 was the highest. The catastrophic decline in population was due to typhoid and cholera epidemics, the premature death of young men in the Civil War. The closure of most industrial enterprises facilitated the reduction of the population. It caused the outflow of peasants back to the villages.
